From our Pastor:

I am Michael Wyndham and I have been blessed to serve as pastor of this wonderful fellowship since November of 1989 (in our staff picture,  I'm the guy on the far left as you view it).  Allow me to introduce myself.

I was born in Mobile, Alabama in 1958, into a warm, loving, Christian home where I was nurtured toward faith from birth.  At age seven, I professed faith in Christ and I began sensing God's call on my life to ministry when in high school.  It was not until I was in my mid-twenties however, married, and with a growing family, that I committed my life to preach and pastor.  That commitment has been a source of abiding peace, joy, and fulfillment every day since.  I have pastored three congregations (actually serving as Associate Pastor at the second) since 1985, serving here at Summit Hills for the last twenty years of that span.  I earned a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1992 and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from that same institution in 1996.  In addition to my pastorate here, I have enjoyed teaching adjunctively at Southern since 1992.

On a personal level, I have been married since 1977 to the love of my life, Wynn.  Wynn is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and currently serves as the Director of Social Services at Central State Hospital in Louisville.  We have raised three wonderful children to adulthood and are blessed to count among our "children" their spouses.  Our oldest son Chris and his wife Andrea are ministers to our youth here at SHBC and are also the parents of two of our three grandchildren, their daughters Emily and Jenna.  Our younger son, Russell, is married to Elizabeth.  They reside in Lexington and are active in church there.  Our youngest child, daughter Tiffany, is married to Kiel and they are the parents of our grandson Brody.  Their beautiful family is also active here in our church.  Finally, and some of you will understand his inclusion, is our big 10 year old "puppy", Hunter.  Hunter is a 130 pound Lab/Golden/ Newfoundland mix, a beloved companion to our family and a gentle friend to many.  Finally, I enjoy travel (though I do precious little of it!), reading, and weightlifting as hobbies.
